Redmi 4 or Infinix Note 4 - Which budget phone is better?

In India, the Android powered smartphone market is mainly governed by the likes of Samsung, Sony, HTC, Motorola, LG etc.Xiaomi entered Indian smartphone market in 2014 and their devices are sold only online at Flipkart or Amazon. With Xiaomi Redmi 4, Xiaomi has continued its legacy of offering great featured smartphones at a highly affordable price tag. This smartphone is equipped with powerful features and specifications. Infinix, a Hong-Kong based mobile manufacturer, has recently made its debut in India with a series of Android smartphones which provide the same functionality as other reputed brands in India but are much lessed priced. They are being exclusively launched on e-commerce website Flipkart with the hashtag #GoBeyond, highlighting a large battery with fast charging support.
In this article, we will compare these two premium smartphones helping the users in taking a right buying decision.

1. Design and Display :

Xiaomi Redmi 4 is slimmer having dimensions 139.30 x 69.90 x 8.65 mm whereas Infinix Note 4 is bigger with dimensions 159.00 x 78.80 x 8.40mm. In terms of display, Infinix Note 4 has gigantic 5.7 inch display and higher resolution 1080x1920 pixels and 387ppi pixel density deliver sharper and crisp images while Redmi 4 has smaller 5-inch display (having low resolution 720x1280 pixels and 296ppi) which is quite easy and comfortable to carry. Infinix Note 4 is available in trendy colours like Ice Blue, Champagne Gold, Milan Black whereas the user will find only black and gold colour options in Redmi 4. Though both of them have sturdy build, they are still prone to accidental slips as they do not have gorilla glass protection. Redmi 4 is around 21% lighter at 156 gms than Infinix Note 4 which weighs 198 gms. Redmi 4 flaunts fingerprint sensor in the front embedded in the home button while Infinix Note 4 does not have fingerprint sensor which is a big negative point as it is the basic feature which mostly all the phones are equipped with.

2. Performance and Storage :

In terms of configuration and performance, Redmi 4 has slightly fast and speedy chipset with 1.4 Ghz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 than Infinix Note 4 which supports a quad-core Mediatek MT6753 chipset clocked at 1.3 GHz. Both of them deliver decent performance with 3 GB RAM and come with 32GB storage which can be expanded upto 128GB using microSD card. On the software front, Note 4 boots on latest Android 7.0 operating system based on customized XOS UI and Redmi 4 runs on Android 6.0.1 operating system wrapped under MIUI 8.

3. Camera :

For photography, both the phones are well equipped with 13 Megapixel rear camera with LED flash. As for front facing camera, Infinix Note 4 has 8MP whereas Redmi 4 features 5 Megapixel front facing camera for selfies and video calling. The selfie camera does not have flash, hence they do not deliver good results in low light conditions.

4. Battery and Connectivity :

The battery life of both the phones is similar with Note 4 being fuelled by 4300 mAH battery while Redmi 4 deriving power from 4100 mAH battery. In terms of connectivity, both of them support 3G, 4G VoLTE, Wifi 802.11.
