2015 has witnessed lot of new smartphone launches. Moto G (3rd gen) and Samsung Galaxy J7 are the two mid-range phones to woo budget-friendly buyers and are worth checking out. Lets figure out which will win our heart.

  1. Display and Design : Moto G 3rd gen has similar design as that of second gen model, except that it comes with a faux-aluminum strip at the back which is available in ten colour variants. It has a plastic back with diagonal lines unlike Moto X which has wooden or leather back. The device is slim (having dimensions 142.1 x 72.4 x 11.6 mm), light in weight (weighing 155 g) and water resistant (IPX7 certified). It features 5-inch IPS display screen having resolution of 720x1280 pixels at 294 ppi. Samsung has come up with a phablet having 5.5-inch AMOLED display screen having pixel density of 267ppi. It is larger and heavier than Moto G with dimensions having 152.2 x 78.7 x 7.5 mm and weighing 171 gms. Samsung J7 is commonly designed with not much change in looks except that it has a glossy plastic back with an aluminum metal bumper frame and rounded chrome finished side edges.
  2. Hardware : Samsung J7 is equipped with much advanced and latest processor as compared to Moto G third gen. It features Octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor with four cores running at 1.4 Ghz and rest four cores at 1 Ghz along with Adreno 405 graphic processor and 1.5 GB RAM. This phablet supports 16GB inbuilt memory, which can be easily expanded upto 128GB whereas Moto G has expandable option upto 32 GB ROM. Moto G is backed by 1.4GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor with Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB/2GB RAM depending on model having 8GB/16GB internal memory.
  3. Camera Performance : Both the devices offer different picture quality as Samsung J7 has 13MP rear camera and 5MP primary camera with LED flash whereas Moto G comes with 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP primary camera with dual-LED flash.
  4. Battery : Samsung J7 is equipped with a powerful removable battery of 3000mAH as it has faster processor wheras Moto G comes with non-removable 2470 mAH battery.
  5. Operating System : Moto G 2015 runs on Android v5.1.1 (Lollipop) operating system while the Samsung Galaxy J7 runs on Android v5.1 (Lollipop) with TouchWiz user interface.
  6. Price : Moto G 3rd Gen (8GB) is priced at 11,999 whereas Moto G (16GB) model is priced at 12,999. The pricing of Samsung Galaxy J7 is slightly higher at 14,999.
