Samsung launched its J series of smartphones with Samsung galaxy J1 which is not a success as it was slightly overpriced. Samsung improvised with Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 with medium budget pricing and good specifications. Samsung J5 price is Rs 11,999 and comes with great specifications like a Super AMOLED 5-inch display, 13MP rear camera, 4G LTE connectivity and 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor.
Build and Design:
The design is not that impressive and is quite similar to other Samsung models except the chrome finished rim around edges is little bulkier. The back cover has soft plastic which provides nice grip to Galaxy J5. The capacitive keys are also not backlit which is little problematic at certain instances.
Internals and Processor:
Samsung Galaxy J5 is a dual SIM (GSM+GSM) Android smartphone and runs on Android v5.1 Lollipop operating system with Samsung's TouchWiz UI which is much better than the software we are getting in similar priced other Samsung phones. This phone has superb performance ensuring hassle-free operation and no lags. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 paired with 1.5 GB RAM. It also supports Adreno 306 graphics which enables smooth and great user gaming experience.
Display and Storage:
Samsung Galaxy J5 is slim having dimensions of 71.8x142.1x7.9 mm, weighing approximately 149 grams. It flaunts a 5-inch TFT Super AMOLED screen display with soft navigation keys, offering HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and having effective pixel density of 294 ppi. It offers great picture quality, great contrast levels, wider viewing angles and produces color rich images with deep black levels, hence offering SUPER AMOLED experience at affordable price. The only drawback with the display is that there is no auto-brightness option, so user has to constantly adjust the brightness depending on the time of day and the lighting. It supports 8GB internal memory which is quite less for storing data (as out of 8 GB, only 4.6 GB is available for user) and can be further expanded upto 128 GB using SD card.
Camera:
Samsung J5 comes with the new camera UI as in Galaxy S6 and S6 edge and it also has “double-tap home button to launch camera” shortcut which is quite convenient and helps in launching the camera quickly whenever needed, irrespective of whatever you are doing on the device. It comes with a Pro mode for shooting and offers Negative, Sepia and Grayscale effects. It has 13 megapixel rear camera with features like auto-focus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face detection and recording HD videos at 30fps. It is paired with 5 megapixel front camera with LED flash, ensuring great selfie experience and video calling. Under day-light, the picture quality is excellent but the performance deteriotes in low-light conditions.

Am quite satisfied with it and highly recommend the phone to price conscious buyers.

i wanted to buy the new phone for my wife in the price range of 10k-15k. i did not want to go for other brands like Lenovo, Micromax, Yu, oppo but finally waited for samsung J series as she did not want any other brand.
Its gold colour is very nice and offers premium feel to the device.
finally i got the delivery yesterday. looks good but the camera performance is not tht great as compared to similar price Asus Zenfone phones or YU yureka or any other Indian brand mobiles.
has 1.5 gb ram and 8gb internal storage.
i bought the phone for myself before the launch of Samsung galaxy On7 which probably has better specifications. Samsung On7 has bigger 5.5-inch display and bigger battery of 30000 mAH.
I am very satisfied with the phone. it has great HD display good for watching videos, reading e-books, internet surfing , emails, to name a few.

Samsung J5 is better than J7.

performs goood multi-tasking even with 1.5 GB RAM but still 2GB RAM would have been better and an added advantage.

It does not have notification light and lack few sensors like Gyrometer, Accelerometer etc.
Comes with Android 5.1 lollipo operating system which needs update as latest versions are also available.
Capacitative keys does not have backlit option.
My brother is very happy as he opens lot of apps at one time and do multitasking but still the phone does not hang-up and hence ensuring hassle-free and lag-free experience.
battery backup is also great.
on normal usage, it provides one day battery back up.
8GB internal memory did not bother him as i bought him an additional SD card for more storage.
overall, the phone is superb with some features of S6 also.

this phone is really good, affordable and most important has Samsung brand name attached to it.
* it delivers superb camera performance with 13MP secondary camera and 5MP front camera. front camera helps in clicking good selfies and also enables full HD video recording.

1. it supports 2600 mAH battery. the battery backup could have been more atleast 3000mAH. its peers like ASus Zenfone series has 4000-5000mAH battery which is like a powerhorse.
2. the capacitative keys are not backlit which is a problem in case of less light.
3. it also supports less inbuilt memory, we have to spend more money in case of more data storage like videos, images etc. 8GB internal storage is very very less.
